[/custom_font][vc_separator type=”transparent” up=”30″]So you’ve just discovered Poshmark, now what? Time to score some awesome deals of course! (Like these Tory Burch flip flops I found for $25!) With 1000’s of listings to shop from it can be overwhelming trying to find deals on things you like, in your size, and that will fit correctly. After being on Posh for 4 years, I’ve learned a thing or two about how to use the platform to find the best deals! Follow these simple steps and you’ll be on your way to building a new wardrobe in no time!
1. Download The App & Set Up Your `My Size` Filters
It seems like common sense, but some people shop on Poshmark strictly from their browser. There’s nothing wrong with shopping directly from the browser, you just lose some of the features that the app allows you to use (like some of the things that I’m gonna be telling you to use later.} Already downloaded the app? Awesome, you deserve a drink! If not, head over to the app store and download it! (Feel free to grab a drink while you wait)
After you set up your basic profile (username, name, email), head to the tab down at the bottom that is showing your username. In this tab you’ll find all sorts of useful tools, but right now we’re gonna focus on the “My Size” button. This is a super simple way of easily narrowing down what you see on Posh. You can pick up to 4 sizes for each of these categories, so spread out your options. If you’re usually a 4 in jeans I would also mark the sizes “2” ,“6”, and “27.” This allows for more options to show up in your feed. I know sometimes I can go between sizes depending on style so I have all 4 options checked for each category. In just a few minutes you already narrowed down the thousands of listings to things that are in your size!
2. Use The Shop Filters
After you finished your sizes, it’s time to shop! (finally!) Head over to the shop tab. You can shop by brand, category, a specific party, or you can even search for something. I usually shop by brand so I can see the new listings from my favorite designers. Once you click on the brand tab there is a humongous list of all the brands that Posh offers. Personally, I’m a Tory Burch and Kate Spade kinda girl. When you click on the brand you’ll notice 3 tabs at the top: All, Just In, and Price Drop. Click on the “Just In” tab to shop the most recent listings. Below those tabs you’ll see the filter bar; this is where things get interesting. You’ll notice that the items are automatically sorted based on your size filters. Should you want to take it off for any reason just click the size tab and uncheck the “use my size” option. The listings will update and all sizes will be shown. Another key filter in this section is the price filter. You can narrow down items to a specific price range that you’re willing to pay! Don’t have a lot of cash but really want something new in your closet? Hit the “under $25” button. Have fun exploring the shop section for a bit. I’m gonna go do a bit of shopping myself.
3. Get Social & Make An Offer
With any luck you’ve already found something you love. If it’s a great deal, snag it up before someone else does! Love the item but not the price? Time to negotiate! Next to the “buy now” button you’ll see the word “offer.” Use this as your secret weapon. With the click of a button you can ask the seller to change the price to something that will work best for both of you. Best part? The offers are completely private so a seller could choose to offer different people different rates. Now is the time for social butterflies to shine! Poshmark is a great community of women and you’ll quickly find plenty of people to talk shop with. If one of your friends is selling something you want, she could give you a special deal! Just make sure that your offers are reasonable. No one likes low ball offers! ($10 for a pair of $200 jeans? Really?) Once the seller accepts an offer, your card will be charged and you can do a happy dance.
4. `Like` Your Favorite Items
Just window shopping for the moment? Save things you may be interested in by “liking” them. All of the items you like will be saved in the “my likes” section so they will be easy to access. When a seller drops their price on one of your likes, you’ll be notified so you can be one of the first to snag it up! Occasionally Posh will also host special “Closet Clear Out” events that will have special discounted shipping rates. Prices drop left and right during these times so it’s always smart to like products you may be interested in so you can get first dibs once the price drops.
5. Check Back Often (Reeeally Often)
By far, one of the most important things is to check back often – like every day. Heck, check back every hour if you can. New deals are popping up every minute and the ONLY way to guarantee that you will find the best deal is to be one of the first ones to see it. Although there isn’t a specific time of day that is best, I tend to find new items will pop up a lot right after the holidays, at the end of the school year, and around spring time. These times people tend to clear out their closet since they are going away to college, making room for new clothes, or because they received a gift that they really didn’t like. As for a specific time of day, there isn’t one. I’ve found awesome deals first thing when I wake up and also found them when I can’t sleep at 3am. A great time to look for new listings is right before a themed party. People will post new items so they can share to the parties and I’ve snagged a few things before they even hit the showroom. Speaking of showrooms, did you know the evening party even has a small section for new items?
Hopefully you’ll put this knowledge to good use in your bargain hunting. I know these simple tricks have fueled my shopping addiction! (How else would I find the perfect designer jeans for 90% off retail?) Have a tip that didn’t make my list? I’d love to hear it! Leave me a comment and it may just make it to my list!
